Cruise greeters at the tourists’ diposal
In order to improve welcoming cruie-ships passengers for cruise calls Cherbourg, the Tourist Office of Cherbourg has launched the cruise greeters network. The aim is double. On one hand, it is about increasing the Cherbourg inhabitants’ awareness on their touristic heritage and on the other hand, about sharing their experience and love of the town.
Indeed, the tourist stops being an unresponsive person before the touristic offer, he or she discovers our destination and its characteristics through the inhabitant’s knowledge and feelings, which in fact unite the inhabitant with his on her region.
So far, fifteen Cherbourg inhabitants have joined the Cruise greeters’ club. They are all interested in the concept for different reasons : some are simply passionate about cruises, while others are just interested in sharing their love for their town and practising a foreign language. They are teachers students, pensionners or employees.
The cruise greeters are easily reognizable thanks to their bags as well as their pictures displayed in the terminal.
