Certifications
Port of Cherbourg was awarded its first certification in March 2007, the first European port to do so.
Since, the certification has been renewed on a regular basis with the new version ISO 9001 -2000 in December 2002.
Port de Cherbourg SAS, the new company, was awarded ISO 9001-2008 certification in March 2009.
The activities which has been certified, cover «the operations associated to the calls of the ships,
the management of the ship elevator and the management of the port public areas ».
One of the next challenges for Port de Cherbourg SAS, is to obtain ISO 14001 certification covering the environmental management system.
In 2009, a new management system will combine ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
ISPS Code
In accordance with ISPS code, Port of Cherbourg complies with the new security rules.
These rules have been established for 3 different port facilities: the ferry terminal, the Quay de France and the cruise terminal, the eastern port with the quay des Flamands and the quay des Mielles.
