Our company

The new port organization:

In 2007, the port of Cherbourg ownership was transferred from the State to a new regional body, Ports Normands Associés- Ports of Normandy Authority. After a call for proposals organized in 2008, PNA unanimously retained the proposal jointly made by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs –LDA- and Cherbourg Chamber of Commerce –CCICC to sign a public facility concession agreement to operate the port of Cherbourg.

The proposal made by our company is based on the diversification of the port’s activity in particular on the development of the transhipment of bulk cargoes.

This lead to the creation of a new company- Port de Cherbourg SAS: first private commercial company running a public port facility in France.

The company:

Port de Cherbourg SAS (for Société par Actions Simplifiée- joint stock company) has a stock capital of 400,000€ and two equal shareholders: LDA and CCICC.

The port concession agreement covers two geographical areas from 1st of January 2009:

  • The Eastern Port (Les Mielles , and Les Flamands areas), agreement valid for 3 years
  • The Western Port (Ferry Terminal and Cruise) for 12 years

The company is managed by an executive committee. The Chairman is Jean-Claude Camus, President of CCICC and the Vice President is Pierre Géhanne, General Manager of LDA.

The general manager is Didier Aumont, with a staff of 83.

Our objective:

Our objective is to make the port of Cherbourg a new logistic base, right in the middle of the English Channel.

This will be achieved thanks to the close cooperation we are building with the shippers and on the basis of the expertise that LDA has gained worldwide in this industry.

These contributions will allow us to promote the natural assets of the port of Cherbourg to build new logistics proposals for our customers.
