To make of each call a special event, the Cruise Club of Cherbourg offers various services, facilities and entertainment for both passengers and crew members.

Shuttle service

A shuttle bus service linking the transatlantic cruise terminal of Cherbourg to the town centre is free for passengers during their call. Depending on the agent request, there may be one or two stops. The first one is just in front of tourism office, close to shops, restaurants, etc. The second one is in front of the hypermarket. On Sundays, as all the shops are closed, so the shuttle bus drop off passengers at the traditionnal French market in Octeville.
Horse carriages

Passengers are delighted to discover Cherbourg's town centre and its main sites on free horse carriages.
Information desk

During the call, there is a receptionist who gives out maps and helps passengers to rent a car or book a taxi. She will also gives out map of the city and offers advice about what to do and  where to go.
Live music band

Generally, a local band plays in the terminal before the departure of the cruise ship to wish its passengers a good trip.
Free tasting

France and especially Normandy is famous for its food. Passengers can taste local products such as fine biscuits, brioches or sweets like caramels d'Isigny. They can drink cider or a hot drink made with calvados (a kind of French brandy), cider and apple juice in winter.
Art exhibition

An exhibition of paintings or photographs is proposed to passengers in the presence of the artist with whom they can discuss the art work. Generally these exhibitions show the local landscape.

Normandy has numerous sites to visit. Among these, The Mont Saint-Michel called "The wonder of the West" due to its island setting, its rich history and the beauty of its architecture at any season. Many visitors to Normandy consider a visit to the sites of the D-DAY invasion a must. It allows you to discover some of the most important locations connected with the historic events of 1944 that marked "the beginning of the end". This excusion is often conbined with the visit to Bayeux and its tapestry. A town steeped in history and full of medieval charm.

Cherbourg offers numerous half or full day shore excursions. It is a place to shop, eat and drink but there are also parks and gardens, markets, and museums to visit.  You can discover Cherbourg and its transatlantic history through the guided tours, the historic walks or La Cité de la Mer. La Cité de la Mer is a new and unique tourist cultural and science centre totally dedicated to human exploration under the sea. For an unforgettable time, discover the largest open-to-the-public submarine in the world and the ocean centre.

On the West coast, La Hague is a place where you can discover every kind of landscape : cliffs, fine sandy beaches, shady green valleys, authentic villages with their buildings of granite and shale. Everywhere, numerous artists and writers have been inspired by the pictureque authenticity of the region. Among those who have loved these landscapes are famous names such as Jean-François Millet or Jacques Prevert.

On the East coast, Le Val de Saire with its numerous typical fishing ports and the isle of Tatihou. In Tatihou you will discover a bird nature reserve as well as an interesting museum with important temporary exhibitions. The isle of Tatihou can be reached by a pleasant walk at low tide. You can also reach this isle by amphibian boat.
